Our story
We are a community of Christians from seven nations, living and serving together in Alfacar, above Granada. This is who we are and where we come from.

Who we are
YWAM Granada is a base of Youth With A Mission (in Spanish, Juventud Con Una Misión, JUCUM). We are volunteers: every member of our team raises their own support so that we can give our time to the work.
We come from Brazil, the United States, Colombia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Mexico and Argentina, and from many different churches. What holds us together is a simple call: to know God and to make Him known.

How YWAM began
In 1956 a young American named Loren Cunningham had a picture in prayer: waves crashing onto every continent, and the waves became young people going out to share the gospel. In 1960 he started Youth With A Mission.
From short summer outreaches it grew into one of the largest mission movements in the world. Today YWAM works in more than 180 countries, in training, evangelism and mercy ministries. Its university, the University of the Nations, began in 1978.
Our life in Granada
Our base is a house in Calle Francia, Alfacar, a village on the hill above the city. Here we live in community, run our Discipleship Training School, meet to pray and plan our week in the city.
From Alfacar we go down to Granada: to the plazas and the university, to our Muslim neighbours, to children in the parks and to the people who sleep on the street. We work with local churches, because the church of Granada is the one that stays.

What we believe
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died and rose again, and that everyone can know Him personally. As part of YWAM we affirm the Lausanne Covenant, a statement of faith shared by evangelical churches around the world.
We believe God speaks today, that worship and prayer come first, and that every follower of Jesus is called to make disciples, whatever their age, nation or job.
